Your privacy choices drive your experience

Learn how your experience will change depending on your privacy settings

When it comes to sharing your data, it can be hard to see what’s in it for you. Why should you share your data with us? What will happen if you don’t? These are fair questions that deserve clear, honest answers.

First, it will help if you understand why we collect data and what kinds of data we collect. Once you're clear on that, we can look at how your experience will change depending on your privacy choices.

When you share your data, we use it to make our sites and services a somewhat personalised space for each user. This means that if we know what part of the world you're in, for example, you will see ads from businesses in the area and may receive local news. On the other hand, if you don't share your location with us, you might see ads for restaurants or services in another city or for items that can't be shipped to your country.

We also use combinations of data types to learn what large groups of people like, then we give similar content to other people who fit the same data profile. For example, women in Oslo aged between 25 and 35 might be interested in skiing and would be interested in a deal for discounted skis. Women in the same age group who live in Barcelona might be less interested in seeing ads like that.
